Implementation, integration, and adoption.

Common questions from clinicians, advocates, attorneys, and institutions.

If your question isn't covered here, reach out directly — institutional and clinical inquiries receive a personal response.

Are these clinical or therapeutic materials?

No. The toolkits are decision-support and planning tools, not therapeutic interventions. They are designed to complement — not replace — clinical, legal, or advocacy services. They support cognition, structure, and decision-making under stress, which can improve client engagement with services and reduce the cognitive load on the professionals supporting them.

What is the framework grounded in?

The framework is informed by research on trauma physiology, decision-making under stress, and survivor-centered practice. It is grounded in the author's direct legal experience and her experience as a survivor navigating coercive control and the legal proceedings that followed.

It is not a peer-reviewed clinical protocol, and it is not intended to be used as one. It is a structured educational and decision-support resource designed to work alongside evidence-based therapeutic and legal interventions, not as a substitute for them.

Are these appropriate for crisis situations?

Some tools (particularly within the Safety Toolkit) are appropriate when there are concerns about escalation or instability, and can support structured safety conversations. They should always be used alongside professional judgment and existing crisis protocols, not as stand-alone interventions.

When should each toolkit be used?

Each toolkit serves a distinct phase of the work. Tools may be revisited as client needs change.

Clarity Toolkit

Intake, documentation, cognitive overload, organizing complex situations.

Safety Toolkit

Escalation concerns, safety planning, exit readiness, stabilization.

Agency Toolkit

Recovery phases, boundary rebuilding, goal formation, longer-term planning.

Can we share these materials directly with clients?

Yes. Partner organizations are welcome to share digital or printed copies with clients, integrate worksheets into support conversations, and use them between sessions to support follow-through. Please do not post the materials publicly or distribute them commercially without permission.

Are there liability concerns with using these tools?

The toolkits are educational decision-support resources and do not provide legal, medical, or therapeutic advice. They are intended to support structured conversations and personal planning, not to replace professional services. Organizations should use them according to their standard policies and professional guidelines.

Do you offer training or orientation for staff?

Yes. A brief Zoom orientation can cover the structure and purpose of each toolkit, typical integration points within clinical and advocacy workflows, and appropriate use considerations. Training can be scaled from a single session to multi-part programs depending on the depth of integration. This is designed to support, not burden, staff.

Can we license the system for institutional use?

Yes. Institutional licensing is available for hospitals, nonprofits, legal aid organizations, social services agencies, and academic institutions. Licensing arrangements can include multi-user access, customized client-facing portals, training and implementation support, and program-level integration. Please reach out directly to discuss requirements and pricing.

Are translations available?

The materials are currently available in English and Spanish. Additional translations are in active development as part of the project's international scaling work. If your organization serves a region or population where another language would be useful, please reach out — partnership and pilot translation arrangements are possible.

Can we give feedback or suggest improvements?

Yes, and it is welcomed. The toolkits are designed to evolve based on real-world use; feedback from advocates, clinicians, attorneys, and survivors directly informs future editions and companion materials. Please send feedback to info@abusesurvivorstoolbox.com.

It does not replace clinical or legal work. It strengthens the conditions under which that work happens.
